adam and i had a fab post-workout breakfast at the freshly opened crepes in the city.  if the name sounds familiar, it's because they used to have a little station inside of washington ave. post.  they relocated to their own space around the corner and it rocks.  the decor is soothing and gorgeous and they have a lovely patio.  scoot on over before winter hits.  their website hasn't been updated yet, but the new location is on 14th at washington, right by lucas park.

stay tuned for mallorie and adam's e-shoot, which will happen this evening.

we finally ate at mattingly brewing co. last night.  good stuff!  i LOVE when we can walk to dinner, especially when it's not a typical, sweating buckets kind of st. louis summer evening.  it's on south jefferson in a newish stretch of development that also includes indigo massage therapy  and luvy duvy's cafe.   the pizza looked awesome, though i didn't partake.  my fish and chips was super yummy.  and the biggest draw, THEY ARE NON-SMOKING!!!!  yeah to restaurants who have the balls to go smoke-free before it becomes the law.

that brings me to another site i stumbled upon, Smoke-Free St. Louis City.  one day we'll be smoke-free!!!  i try to be fairly apolitical on this blog, however, smoking is something about which adam and i feel strongly, so forgive the brief rant.

Liz:

This is one of the few things that disappoints me about St. Louis. I no longer notice when a bar is smoke-free, I notice when it is NOT. All the bars and restaurants in Houston did it at the start of this year, and I don't see them suffering.

have you been to the london tea room yet?  it is my new FAVORITE place.  i just got home from meeting a super cool couple there.  it was my second or third recent visit and i ADORE it.  that's right, ADORE.  how do i love thee?  let me count the ways.

top ten best things about the london tea room.
1.  their tea.  duh.  loose leaf and delicious.
2.  their tea menu.  several oolong (get it?  ha.)  columns of tealiciousness.
3.  their decor.
4.  their attachment to english living that has some of the most classic, beautiful furniture i have seen anywhere.
5.  their personality.  i think it's uber-important for businesses to show personality.  just take a look at this page titled, "the royal we."
6.  they blog.  any business that blogs gets an A in my proverbial book of bests in the 'lou.
7.  their commitment to fair trade.
8.  their hours.  soon to be extended.  and if they decide to open on mondays, too, that would be utter fabulositea (thanks to st. louis native, kimora lee simmons, for inspiring my newest word adaptation).  trademark in the works.
9.  their "strict no-doily policy."
10.  the fact that to subscribe to their news, one must click a button that reads, "signed in blood."

this post is free of official sponsorship, just a good ole' fashioned honest opinion.  LOVE TO THE 'LOU.  trademark also in the works.

peace out.

adam and i were piggies today.  we started off with a yummy brunch at off the vine.  the smoked salmon flatbread was particularly tasty, but the spinach omelette got fabulous reviews as well.

and this afternoon we did something we've been meaning to do for a long while, the brewery tour at anheuser-busch.  since the inbev deal went through, we figured now was as good a time as any.  i enjoyed it, the non-beer-drinker that i am.  so much history!  stella artois already made it to the tap in the tasting room.  sigh.

and another we've-been-meaning-to-stuff-our-faces-there-place (and that we did!),  hodak's.  it's also in our neighborhood and CHEAP and YUMMY and FRIED.  CHEAP and YUMMY and FRIED, oh my.

i will now retire myself to the couch and fight the urge to dig into some ice cream.  by now you are thinking, becca the glutton, right?  i usually eat pretty healthfully, so this temporary lapse in culinary judgment will be made up with extra gym time this week.  don't worry.  my arteries will recover just fine.

congrats again to STLove winners, matt and tiffany, who rocked the house to get their winning entry in at 7:26 a.m.
